I'm going to my daughter's meet the teacher night.

I'm sure she doesn't want me to. I didn't ask permission. I try to do this every year. She has dyslexia and I like making sure the teachers know.One year two of the teachers were unaware. They have too many students. I understand it's hard to keep up with everyone. That's why I try so hard to visit them and say hello.

@Dadbod52 Thanks. I appreciate your words of support. I'm conflicted because I don't think my daughter would like that I do this. She lives with her dad so I can get away with going and her not knowing.

Have you tried talking to her about why she doesn't want you to do this???

In my case, one of the big bug bears I had - and still don't understand the logic behind is that I am dyslexic and I loved reading, I always have. I used to read through my reading books rapidly at home - but the teachers would often make me read through the same book two or three times.

Reading wasn't my problem. I needed help with spelling. It took me ages to get out of spelling "Colours" the American way and accept that there's a "H" in "White". I still remember having to sit there, writing out the colours over and over again, with the hope that I'd magically remember that "H" if I did it enough times.

@HootyTheNightOwl she and I have major mother daughter issues. I probably won't tell her I did this until she's 21 or older. When she's past being able to be embarrassed. Dyslexia is horrible to have. And worse when teachers don't understand it. You sound extremely well read and spell great! It's good to see you here, btw. Glad you're alive! Literally!!!
