Learn the areas that AI can't compete in. Believe it or not AI code is redundant just as regular code is. It uses existing code like everyone else does.
Same applies with graphics. AI can only base anything on what already exists.

Can I ask whether you're currently a student? It's probably not the best time for junior engineers to be starting in the industry, honestly. It's a really competitive market and a lot of companies are treating AI as a way to cut headcount for entry level roles. This can make for a much steeper barrier to entry.
There are a few things you can do to make yourself stand out, though. See if there's a way you can land a live internship, either paid or unpaid. Having real industry experience is a huge game changer and will make you stand out against other entry level people who don't.
I'd also maybe look at getting started with using AI on your own, and having some projects you can point to as samples of your work. Having something to show off goes a long way too. Either art or programming, you can think of like a personal portfolio.
Lastly, be willing to either uproot or be onsite in your first role. A lot of engineers these days are aiming for remote roles and a lot of them aren't willing to settle for being in a physical office. If you're flexible about it, that also gives you more opportunities that others might not have.
The market isn't easy right now but these are at least a few ways to maximize your chances. I'm wishing you all the best and nothing but success.

The counselor may recommend some slight adjustments that will make sure you are pointed in the right direction. They will be on top of this.

As a programmer, I camshaft say it is going to be harder and harder to get into. Folks rarely look to hire entry level programmers and always want some kind of experience. AI does the entry level work so it's just getting harder. I won't say impossible yet, but if you are just starting out in school it's going to be rough.
I'm not even sure what working is going to look like twenty years from now, to be honest.

Your awareness may be the key to your successful future. AI is only a threat if you try to run from it, and if you can't run fast enough it will likely win. AI is but another component of automation, and like with every industry it will likely follow a similar path with us humans.

It troubles me that genuine creativituy is being thrown away, replaced by AI cobbling together material stolen from original work, for no other reason than quick profits.
I wonder, indeed hope for creative people like you, if there there will be a reaction, restoring real work by real people while relegating the computer-generating images to the merely meretricious and ephemeral clutter like advertisements.
