I been teaching a 19 years old dude , and I thought he is around 14 so I been treating him as if he were younger this whole time

Scolding him when I find him outside after sunset 👀

It just shows how I see them all as kids.

I found out his age because he got an invitation to drafting examinations.

I was shocked. He laughed his heart out and said he is okay with how I been treating him.

I have more than 200 students now so it is hard for me to keep up.

Oh I BET he is fine with how you've been treating him 😂 Make an unhinged comment and ask if he has mummy issues
Miram · 31-35, F
@Sherlock well, most of these kids grew up in warzones and extreme circumstances.

A lot of them are orphans.

And irrespective of that, they are still doing their very best to thrive.

I didn't really crossing boundaries like that. He is still a child to me. Just not a 14 years old one :)

@Miram Ermmmmm well, if I had known that beforehand I wouldn't have made such a comment! Oops. 😬Yeah, maybe don't do that then😅

@Sherlock I been here for so long yapping about my life for years that I assume we all are too familiar 👀 Yeah, don't worry about it. Takes time to figure out each other's boundaries.

What do you teach ? And which warzone?
Miram · 31-35, F
@Shibalaha

I teach physics, chemistry, biology, biochem, anatomy, immunology, mathematics and languages.

Many of them are refugees from all over; Mali, Libya, Palestine, the Western Sahara, Sudan ..etc etc.

In Algeria.

It is a volunteering role. I don't get paid for it.

Some of them aren't immigrants.

@Miram how do you manage? Are resources good enough to care for them and for teachers like you?
