The average cost of tuition in the US is about 10k per year.

In states like California, New Mexico, and Florida, in-state tuition is closer to 6 to 7k a year. This is less than most new car prices. An education is something nobody will be able to take from you, a degree cannot get repossessed by the bank, and doesn’t depreciate over time. It’s a no brainer.

that number is for tuition only, and is probably based on in-state public only and might include community colleges. If you average across out of state public and private institutions, its much higher. I am not arguing the value of an education, but I have seen first-hand how the price of college attendance has sky-rocketed over the past 20 years.
@pknein It can add up but if you stay in state, and at a public university, it’s very reasonable. As far as living costs, you have to pay to live no matter where you’re at. If you stay at home or live off campus and pay rent, the costs can be worth it.
