I'm doing a degree in environmental health and have worked as a director of education across several countries...

I then go onto the internet and post a related comment to be told that I need to "read science" and that I post "disinformation" and am "insane".

It really is ridiculous that nowadays anything that doesn't fit exactly into what someone else wants to believe is automatically "fake news" or against "the science" and that naturally the only stance to have is that you must be an absolute idiot that has never opened a text book to dare to disagree with 1% of what they think on any given day. Such people are never able to explain "the science" they say others haven't read, I often observe.
