@popmol I did accept the certificate (after she outlined to me why she felt that I was worthy of it - keeping in mind that I was really struggling to see how I overcame hardship to complete this course) and my tutor gave me a photocopy of the form she sent in, which outlined exactly why she nominated me for my award. I still have both the certificate and that piece of paper to this day.

I knew that I had special needs anyway and I dealt with that as far as I could, I just hadn't anticipated being unable to write on top of that... so, I had to adapt as soon as I got home from hospital. I did actually talk to my tutor about potentially dropping out because I knew that I wouldn't be able to write again until after the exam, but she wouldn't hear of it.

I'd never been given additional help to finish a course before... usually, the only help you get tends to be what you declared going into the course and not adjusted when your support needs change as mine did when I became unable to write.
