Gahhhhh I wish ChatGPT was around when I was in school

Obviously it would have made it very easy for students to cheat, but even if I were to never use it in a way that could reasonably be deemed cheating, it could have changed everything, having something that could help me understand and study and research any subject in any way I needed.
Breaking down math problems into however small steps I needed with explanations tailored to my learning style, dumbing down complex or confusing passages in a text book, quizzing me on my understanding of the subject and identifying the areas I need to work on and giving suggestions how, locating citable sources that have exactly the information I need that I wouldn’t have otherwise found, giving me ideas of what themes I can explore in an essay, making me a homework/study schedule that’s to my comfort level and accounts for my neurodivergent needs… I might have actually finished college… for better or worse, AI is going to change a lot, especially in terms of education.

I agree. As a former teacher I can see tremendous benefit in AI as an aid, but you still need to learn how to construct your own arguments, set out your solution to problems etc. kids think it is the answer that is important but of course in non-trivial questions it is not about the final answer, it is all about how you get there and explaining your reasoning.
No doubt library research is no longer the process it once was. Thank goodness!

@Maturebate your disposition in welcoming AI is commendable Sir . Great teacher you are though retired.. so please don't say you are former...

You brought up a very good point of constructing arguments. I found that MCQ system has narrowed the minds of new generation and has impaired critical thinking. They have all become answer/ solution addicts that beyond a point they refrain to think or further their thought.

But now students can be evaluated based on how they phrase their questions/ chat with AI.
