Gahhhhh I wish ChatGPT was around when I was in school

Obviously it would have made it very easy for students to cheat, but even if I were to never use it in a way that could reasonably be deemed cheating, it could have changed everything, having something that could help me understand and study and research any subject in any way I needed.
Breaking down math problems into however small steps I needed with explanations tailored to my learning style, dumbing down complex or confusing passages in a text book, quizzing me on my understanding of the subject and identifying the areas I need to work on and giving suggestions how, locating citable sources that have exactly the information I need that I wouldn’t have otherwise found, giving me ideas of what themes I can explore in an essay, making me a homework/study schedule that’s to my comfort level and accounts for my neurodivergent needs… I might have actually finished college… for better or worse, AI is going to change a lot, especially in terms of education.

Same with how I feel about Khan Academy. My math teachers were always swamped with too many students, every single one had their hand up you were lucky if you got one question answered if you had a follow-up you were fucked because it took the whole 90-minute class to get everyone's questions answered. We're not terrible at math as a nation, but it's a real struggle for us because math is one of those subjects where it's easy to make mistakes that result in the wrong answers and only through rigorous interactive practice do we really even begin to learn to spot and correct ours.

@PDXNative1986 wow, are you talking about teachers or professors? Because a grade level classroom that big should be criminal

@Zeuro teachers. A Professor with a classroom that big would also be criminal, we PAY Them like we DON'T teachers. Where's the money going if that were the case.

@PDXNative1986 wow, where did you go to school? And how many kids per class? When I was in high school there was never more than maybe 25-30 students. Even the public schools couldn’t have more than like 35 I believe
