"The Participation Trophy Generation" protesting in support of a terrorist group.

These protesters must get arrested. You can't just let them go.

Can someone tell me what is wrong with a bunch of kids expessing their 1st amendment rights to Free Speech and Peaceful Assembly, while on Private Property, which they are entitled to, by paying their tuition on time?

@calicuz 1. They are NOT entitled to use the private property simply because they pay tuition. In a sense they;re merely renters who have to obey the house rules.
2. A very large percentage of the arrests made on these protesters are NOT of students but of outsiders with no relationship to the school.
3. The First Amendment says the government shall not infringe on freedom of speech, says nothing about owners of private property limiting what anyone can use that private property for.

@ChipmunkErnie

On 1: Yes, as long as they follow the rules established by the school, they should not be harassed by the police for expressing their rights under the Constitution. This I agree with you.

On 2: Yes, we agree that the real trouble makers are not associated with the School, nor are students, nor can the students give the "outsiders" permission to be on private property, so the outsiders should be arrested for trespassing. I agree with you 100%.

On 3: We sort of agree and disagree. The 1st Amendment protects out right to "Peacefully Assemble," as well as our speech and to the free press. Private property owners can grant permission to allow anyone to do what ever they want within the confines of local and federal law.

BTW: Great way to discuss the issue. 🙂

@calicuz 1. They refused to move when asked by the school, so they did NOT follow the rules. And then many refused to obey the police when asked to peaceably move. Even watched video of one young woman who refused to leave, the policeman took her by the elbow, and she punched him in the face -- and then screamed "Oh my GOD!!" in total shock when he put her on the ground to handcuff her. Like she thought she had the total right ignore his lawful order and then punch him with impunity.

2. Re the whole thing, I find a HUGE difference between protesting the situation in Gaza and supporting Hamas, chanting slogans for the annihilation of Israel, intimidating Jewish students and staff on campus, etc.

Are those kids up to date on their tuition payments?
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@calicuz they treat their Alma Matter so well…
