Interesting take. We should reserve some doubt however. Germanic Art is almost unusually heavy with religious overtones.
Possibly he wasn't rejected from that art school because of his ineptitude.
His rejections from some endeavors might have been as simple as not being bath-house brat friendly in what at that point in history was quite nearly identical to our now amnesic and contemporary militant rainbow brigades.
You wouldn't know that however, because of genocides, actual truths are too obscene to be allowed oxygen.

His apparent ability to become limitless in whatever field of endeavor he found himself could, even today, keep him out of his first choice of schools.
