Do you think...?

With today's level of education, do you think it should be re done to be mimic the real world? A lot of the things taught in school do not matter with the real world.. I can learn more from youtube than one day at school.

As long as you are learning, and getting information from some place. All they need to do now is add homework, quizzes, and tests to YouTube, or something interactive online. They still need to make sure you are learning it and still need a way to assign you a grade.

At work I just Google everything. Yet some things are behind paywalls (journal articles are not cheap!). Fortunately, my organization has memberships on many sites so I get articles for free. Also, some information is in older books that are not digitized. We do not have a library, unfortunately, and I am too lazy to go seek out one. But if I can find the PDF file online I am set!

I know about YouTube lectures. A year ago I watched a bunch of free lectures on YouTube by some famous physicist, and learned about the general theory of relativity. Fascinating stuff! Yet people still need to be paid! If everything moves online they might have to start charging us to watch!
