I love being a teacher … but…

@nonsensiclesnail I remember my 8th grade science teacher would go out into the hallway quite often and stand there drinking something that he kept stored in his supply closet. He was as moody as hell too. Ended up quitting about 3 years later and going to work for a prison in the southern part of the county.

@cherokeepatti ha That's funny. My ex used to work in a maximum security prison. A lot of ex teachers there. They said it was easier 😂

@nonsensiclesnail oh it’s damned stressful nowadays in Oklahoma and has been for a long while. After he went to work there an art teacher from the same school went there to teach sculpture. They came out with a news story a couple years later that a female employee had been raped and I couldn’t help but think of her. That sort of job is working closely with the inmates.

@cherokeepatti it really must be hard job! I be not known a prison teacher but I have know a few prison nurses.

@nonsensiclesnail I know one thing she had them doing was going out and digging up their own natural clay (there is a lot of it here if you know where to dig) and cleaning and processing it to use for their sculptures. The newspaper would print stories about these prison artists and some were extremely talented. I believe they had art sales to benefit charities back then too.
