Do you think a parent can be afraid of their child?

I have a parent that doesn’t want to put additional stress on her child. Therefore her “child should not have to learn cursive.”

Why would a mom say that? She must be afraid of her daughter!

I wouldn’t assume she was afraid [b]of[/b] the child. Possibly afraid [b]for[/b] her, if she thinks the child becomes easily discouraged with difficult tasks. Nowadays a few educators are even questioning the need for children to learn cursive writing. Not a position I agree with personally, but they cite the extensive use of computers, smartphones and typing by which even small children are proficient now. 🤔
