Do you think a parent can be afraid of their child?

I have a parent that doesn’t want to put additional stress on her child. Therefore her “child should not have to learn cursive.”

Why would a mom say that? She must be afraid of her daughter!

Yes, if the child is oppositional defiant.

Not sure how not learning cursive means they're afraid of their child.

@midnightrose her mom said that “you all are putting too much pressure on my child” by asking her to do cursive. (2nd grader)
Why would a parent do that except that a parent is overwhelmed by the child’s behavior

@Mindful Why on earth is a second grader learning cursive? Printing is hard enough with the motor skills kids have at that age.

@OggggO so you never learned cursive?

According to research cursive connects to one of the neurons relating to sound and memory, and practicing cursive IN class helps children read better.

@Mindful I learned cursive, but not in second grade. I think 5th?
@Mindful I'm not sure but a lot of kids don't learn cursive these days. Maybe her child is struggling with it and it's making the child cry and not want to finish work.

Her saying it's putting too much stress on her child isn't really saying what's going on.
@OggggO I learned in 2nd grade but it's not something kids are learning anymore. My kids didn't get taught cursive. I know it's recommended for kids with dyslexia. It helps them with spelling.
