Now I want to ask who ever knows the answer to this. If we're talking compound interest. I were I was listening to this he was talking about when explainin compound interest. He said that you can get 10% interest on your investment. My question is, is that interests building on a monthly base or a crude over at the end of the year.
For example I cut out Starbucks the average person may go once a day 5 days a week. 20 a week 4 weeks that 80 x 12 that 960 a year.
What I'm wondering is that 10% only off the one time at the end of the year or 10% from each month

Not sure what kind of investment can give you 10% interest. Either it involves big risk, or it's marketing gimmicks

Well ok I guess he was just using that as an example as a possible highest interest that you can get. Either way is it just at the end of the year or monthly or does it differ how the interet builds depending on each investment. I'm just trying to take it in, and grasp the idea using examples

If you are talking about deposits, sometimes they mis-sell it in this way. Say the interest is 2%. You deposit for 5 years. They will tell you that the interest is 10%. That's just misrepresentation. But anyway, you got to read the fine prints properly.

@UnderTheBridge: thank you, it does make sense. Best to always to read the fine print. Ok so it differs from one investment to the next.

@UnderTheBridge: I get that the economy isn't like it was even 8 years ago. About 8 years ago I had a short turm cd with an 5.7 apy and held it in for 6 months I was given a grase period. And I don't remember why but I let that time run out witch is driving me nuts now. I know its almost impossible to find an apy higher than 3%, even that is amazing now

@tatysuma: with all the interest rates going zero or negative, it's a wonder if anyone can pay you 10% pet annum, let alone per month. I always believe if things are too good to be true, they are too good to be true.

@UnderTheBridge: I kick my self about letting the 5.7 slide away from me. I actually got the money from that interests and my money back. Like what I put in plus 250 interested over 6 months. I could have milked it at lest anothr 3 years if I locked in the rate. But I was young and inpashent

@tatysuma: nobody knows that'd going to happen, else we will all be millionaires.
