Am I the only one that hates homework or exam questions that end with "Explain"?
Or "Why or why not?" or "How do you know?" or literally any variation of "Explain your answer." Only the most flippant responses always come to mind.
Question: "Is this the skull of a tarsier or of a human?"
Me: "Tarsier."
Second part of the question: "How can you tell?"
Me: "Because I'm not a fucking idiot who doesn't know what a human skull looks like. I mean, it's common knowledge, Mr. Stupid Question."
Question: "Is this the right femur or the left femur?"
Me: "Right."
Second part of the question: "How can you tell?"
Me: "Because... because... well, I don't know! It just is!"
Question: "What kind of bone is this?"
Me: "Scapula."
Second part of the question: "How do you know?"
Me: "Because it looks like the fucking scapula."
You get the picture. I'm good at coming up with the right answers, but I suck at explaining how I know them beyond "because I studied for this shit and paid attention in class." I probably spend more time trying to figure out how to explain what I know than I do at determining the right answer.
