Anyone else stress about academic achievements?

I seem to put so much stress on myself that I must do well in my education in order to get approval from others. I’ve almost finished my undergraduate degree (5 weeks left) and have a place to go study a nursing masters degree after.

Recently I’ve been thinking how miserable eduction makes me, and how I do not enjoy writing assignments a certain way in order to gain a ‘grade’ on a bit of paper.

I’m thinking of maybe taking a year out instead of going straight into my masters but I’m scared people will think I’m useless..

Other people don’t really matter, you’re doing all of this for yourself in the end - and academic achievement is often very helpful in attaining your life goals.

But remember, that no matter how much you love your job, there will be parts of it that suck - and professional success very much involves being able to do things you don’t like to when needed - and do them well. Not enjoying many/most of your assignments is perfectly normal. Indeed, the very expectation that school, work, life, etc is supposed to be full of fun and happiness is wrong - and imo, quite harmful,

Nothing wrong with taking a year off, and perspective can be good. Just keep your long term goals in mind.
