It refers to tradition without expanding towards anything outside of what has been done before, a good example would be the education system.

@OceanKayak: not if some ppl's value are highly evolved, say if you have a habit of operating from a broader perspective. That value would nowadays still be seen as in conventional and bizarre to many that come from only their own.

My first thoughts were how different education systems differ with their rules and customs depending on the country you live.
Then I thought, each person is different themselves, your own development since kindergarten is different than mine.
