They gave syphilis and smallpox to Native Americans

@quitwhendone Not intentionally.

@helenS I didn't say it was intentional. But it is still credited with wiping out a huge swath of the Native American population.

@quitwhendone In the 1400's, 70% of the European population was exterminated by the Black Death. With kind regards from Asia.

@helenS Yep.

@helenS I am not knocking Europe. Europe has a great culture and has been a center of enlightened intellectual thought (after several centuries of ignorance in the Dark Ages). But Europe has no monopoly on intelligence and knowledge and Europe also has contributed some not so good things to the world. Colonialism, Imperialism, constant war, ripping up countries and creating new borders that don't match the groups of people in the area, stealing land, the Crusades, the Inquisition, etc.

@quitwhendone America seems to be trying to catch up really quick; and given access to information and education one actually appears more manipulative. But that's the role of a dominant power in the world; keeping it's dominance.

@SW-User Who appears "manipulative?" What are you talking about?
America is catching up to what or who?

@quitwhendone America has a strong practice in BEING manipulative, or are you manipulating words now?
quitwhendone · M
@SW-User Who do they manipulate and how? You mean by threatening to cut off aid, impose economic sanctions, or bomb from the air?

SW-User
@quitwhendone I'm pretty sure going against security council recommendations of the UN, for private gain, counts. Funding regimes with arms that are against their same enemy, only to have those weapons used on civilians, and then throw out with military might, disregarding causality is manipulative.
