Did you go to college?

I didn't want to at first, but I decided to be the first female ever in my family to do so (older brother was the first, period). It was a challenging experience for me, but I survived.

Yep, I have student loans to prove it 😑
@MellyMel22 I came from a lower middle class family so that was pretty much a requirement.

@latinbutterfly 🙁 My advisor didn’t advise me I was eligible for scholarships.
@MellyMel22 Oh, that sucks 😕.

@MellyMel22 yea, they don't do a very good job. I don't know how old I was, when I learned that you could put your classes on a payment plan. I was taking 1 and 2 classes at a time. Nobody EVER said that to me. And I started out at a CC so a payment plan would have been totally doable...All they'd say was 'apply for financial aid', which I initially did not qualify for...

I always thought it was either financial aid or scholarships that paid for school, or your own rich parents... the joys of being first to do it

@iamnikki Yeah, it stinks! My last semester the head of the dept asked why I wasn’t told I was eligible for scholarships and asked why I thought I was taking 5 courses and I told her my advisor said she was doing me a favor since they made a mistake accepting one of my courses from the other school. She argued w/me and told me if I wanted to still graduate that semester I had to do what she said. The dept head looked at me with her eyes wide open and said she said what?! She needs my approval for anything like that! And that course IS approved as a transfer credit, what was she talking about?!
That witch made me buy books and waste time reading and writing papers knowing I was a mom driving almost an hour there and back every day I was there. I knew she didn’t like me from the day I met her.

Now I’m stuck w/loans that I shouldn’t have had needed 😒 I graduated w/honors too, I would’ve had no prob keeping those scholarships.

@MellyMel22 that's horrible. See if you can work somewhere and have your loans paid for..

@iamnikki I haven’t seen anything that’ll do it. I think it’s certain majors, but I could be wrong.
