By definition it is incorrect, a mistake can indeed be committed. If I murder someone and land in prison, I made a mistake. I committed murder, and committed a mistake. Whoops.

@GlitterBug error is different from mistake. I committed a murder .. I erred ..

By mistake I shot the wrong person is okay .. but not by mistake I committed a murder...

Incorrect. Definition of mistake is an action or judgement that is misguided or wrong. I would say murder is wrong. @in10RjFox

@GlitterBug it is wrong.. but it need not be a mistake.. mistake is when you murder the wrong person, thinking that is someone else.

By mistake..

Or you never wanted to murder.. but by mistake you injected the wrong patient ..

Hope you get what I am driving at ..

I do. I enjoy this type of discussion. Makes you think of how the definition of a word can vary based on context. It's a good mental exercise to me.

@GlitterBug thats the whole idea of bringing it up.. for it does not usually occur to ask such question ..

let me give you a scenario .. you are playing cards..

1. your predecessor drops a card.. but you pick up another ...
2. you were thinking of discarding A, but you discard K ..

can you mention the word starting with 'mis' for each ?
GlitterBug · 22-25, F
Yes. That would be a mistake. In an accidental context.
However one can also commit a mistake, as the definition of commit includes the word mistake. It can be an error or a fault. It's all contextual. Circumstantial. I think the intent of the action determines if it was a mistake like picking up the wrong card or a mistake like landing yourself in prison for murder, wrong person killed or not.

@GlitterBug As masters we try to bring about realisation in a different manner... so I am trying to make you realise ..

And you did right... first one is a mistake... what is second one ?

If every word can be another word .. then why the word at all in the first place ?
GlitterBug · 22-25, F
Ever pick up a thesaurus? It's all the same word really. :P But to go along, it would be an accident. Or error. Either one. You are correct and also incorrect. @in10RjFox

Because each word has a slight definition shift. To use a different word for example I'll use sad. Sorrowful, unhappy, depressed. All the same general concept with slight meaning shift in each word variation. Sad is just sad. Sorrowful implies a deeper feeling of sad. Unhappy is simply not happy. Depressed can either be the mental illness or intense sad that lasts longer than normal sad. We have variations for clarification.
So mistake is generally seen as an error, sure. But they're two separate words with slight definition variations. @in10RjFox

@GlitterBug hahaha.. what If I say I am a thesaurus myself.. ? hahahaha... anyway the word I was expecting for the second is "Misplace" .. for you took the wrong one in the first & placed the wrong one in the second ...

So can thesaurus do this ? 😂

and you must have heard "thinking out of the box" .. ever wondered what is the box ?

This is so lovely Artasia dear.. ever thought you would be writing like this ? An opportunity to explain, that we all love, but never get .. and we dwell amidst confusions ..

Lovely.. do rewrite as many times.. and you will start loving how life has embedded itself in you .. for it is when you explain, that you rearrange self .. which is the shelf we are ..

...I like you. This is great honestly. Rare to see anyone actually have this sort of conversation.

The word misplace did not come to my mind at all actually. Walking thesaurus is better than the book because it has the human element a dictionary or thesaurus lacks.

I do wonder what the box is but I don't dwell on it. I'll explore what I want inside the box or not. Would you say based on this chat that I'm inside "the box"?

I write this way as often as I get a chance to. I genuinely enjoy it.

@GlitterBug 😘🥰 .. it is truly at this moment that we love to kiss and be kissed .. ain't we ? why admonish ourselves of our natural expression ?

The box is nothing but the dictionary or thesaurus you quoted.. for they are expressions like what we are having, boxed once upon a time .. and once we start thinking out of it .. is when our thoughts attain the next level.. else we remain within as boxed..

You made me think of the box.. since you brought up thesaurus ..
