Why does my kitten grunt?

I'm not sure I'd call it a grunt, but he makes these low pitch noises kind of like a grunt. Sometimes when hes stretching or sleeping but he does it sometimes when I hold him. Maybe like hes in discomfort. I hold him very gently with both my arms and let him stand or lay how he wants

It's a "chirp" of contentment that means he feels safe and loved. My female does the same at a somewhat higher pitch.

@Grateful4you I looooove those chrips. We call them "burbles." Miss Meow does it.
