Would you identify as a women if it helped you get a scholarship to college?

The beard might be a red flag tho

@Firespirit Wouldn't matter.

I would identify with popcorn if it helped me get a scholarship. I would identify with snickers bars if that helped me get a scholarship. But I love popcorn and chocolate. I’m not sure if I get the point of your question but I will say... truth matters.

Why stop there? Identity as a black, nonbinary woman. Three oppression Olympic medals right there.

@Sicarium Not obese and disabled enough.

@SW-User Can't hog all the oppression points. That'd be the patriarchy.

My brother and I were talking about that, earlier, haha. There was a coding bootcamp that was offering to outright give women $2,000 to go. Whereas guys have to pay like $10k-$20k. You fucking bet. I wanna see them challenge the beard to someone who identifies as a woman. xD

Why do people even pay for these? Do employers take them seriously? All of that information is on the internet for free anyways. I can't imagine paying $10k for that when you can download a text editor and some books and do it yourself.

@SW-User Sure. Coding bootcamps are definitely an option. In most programming fields, companies don't really care about accreditation as much as they used to. It's more about "do you have the skills?" And bootcamps are a definite way to get those skills.

Yeah, if you can structure yourself well and know what out of the billions of things you need to learn to be practical. You'll invariably get stuck on some shit, though, and professors or mentors can help a lot in that area. It could work to just study online, though, and that's the direction accreditation is going, in general. Colleges are becoming obsolete as internet education takes over. But currently, Universities still maintain a virtual monopoly.

My plan was to just learn the skills online, but accreditation helps. You could study for Microsoft certifications on your own, though. And that would look great to employers.
