Was anyone slippered by the gym teacher at school?

That was pretty common too - certainly at primary school!

Very true it was a regular thing to receive the rule ,,, they thought it was discipline it just make our hands tough ,,,lol

I guess it was very well used in schools ,,, Glad it is not permitted these days ,,, it only made most more aggressive,,,

@mountainman1234: You might be right about it making most more aggressive, I dertainly agree it did that with some.

The other major problem was that it was frequently abused, probably at least as much as it was legitimately used. For example, some schools only used CP with boys. Why? They had perfectly good alternative methods of maintaining discipline that they used with girls. The only explanation that fits the known facts was that they got some perverse pleasure from beating boys.

I agree with you ,, the standard was definitely not fair ,,, but that was the time and the way things were done ,, I think as you things could have been better thought out ,,, but I also feel that things have gone to far the other way meaning there is no discipline at all in schools now ,,, I think we tried to compensate for past wrong doings and have gone to far ,, I have seen that talking to an upset child does not solve anything ,, as for bulling you can talk the ears off a bully and nothing is solved ,,, but you take him or her aside and tune them up it tends to show them they are not so tough ,,,
