Would you pay to send your child to a private school that emphasized a tech free environment?

(And yes, such institutions are a thing now and there are parents presently paying tuition for this.)

no.. sounds like a waste of money

What would the curriculum be, specifically? Additionally, what would the accomodations for special-needs children be?
Maybe for preschool?

But otherwise, nah. Tech is a big part of life and of getting a job!

My preschooler has learned to sound out and read some words from playing with his tablet. He has become familiar with math and can do basic addition and subtraction. This is without spending time in school and having time with technology.
Would I pay to take away those advantages? Not in this lifetime.

I'd consider it. There is way too much emphasis on tech. I would like to see kids learn the humanities, history, art, rhetoric, literature, and how to think, not just how to code. I think both are important but with how addicted kids are to tech and social media, it might be a good idea to get away from it all at school.

No, i'd want them to learn in an environment that prepared them for the outside world, especially how to use a cell phone responsibly while at work. Part of this though would be learning to deal with tech-free periods.

@strangerthanfiction Exactly, most work places don't allow it and you have to keep it off or keep it in your pocket etc. I think this should be taught to kids at school. Schools where i live have a lot of issues with them using them during class.

They might actually learn to read and write. So many people my age lack this ability.
I'd love to see balance infused. While I love the idea of going back to an old-fashioned method of educating and implementing more real life scenarios conducive to strengthening social skills, I feel tech certainly still has a place. It's just a matter of emphasizing moderation in all aspects of life, but especially when it comes to using iPads and/or gaming. @ImKelsey
No, we have tech limits at home. Daughter went to a paperless high school. They did everything on their school laptop. Had charging stations at lunch tables.

We have one of those schools in Colorado

Would pay money to send them to a STEM school
EnigmaticGeek · 61-69, M
Absolutely not.

My future children will be as educated about tech and all other subjects they will need to succeed in society as they are willing to absorb, by formal schooling, or myself.

In the younger years to develop social skills but not when you get older as it's a vital skill to have. Unless you plan for your children to be investers in business

I wouldn’t pay for my child to be underdeveloped lol
That ruins everything no pokie mon no you tube no dick pics !!

No, if I went to a school like that, I would’ve never been educated in computer science like people should be.
This tech-free shit is so stupid to me.
