Does incorrect spelling/grammar bother you?

It used to until I learned more about dyslexia and other reading disabilities. Now I always let it go because they might not be able to help it.

@SW-User I never thought to consider that. Thank you for that perspective. As someone who has done copy editing professionally, I am sensitive to typing or spelling errors more than grammar, but both bother me. Rarely do I consider that the one posting may have a legitimate disability.

In my opinion, if something is worth being written, then it should be written with attention to details such as spelling and grammar, especially if it is to be taken seriously. Perhaps I'm just a bit too anal about that sort of thing and should lighten up a bit. 😬
@otto78 No, if you are copy editing, it is your JOB to try to move your clients from wherever they are towards perfection.

Bad spelling and grammar can get in the way of communication...they definitely distract educated persons, readers, ...

@SomeMichGuy Agreed, but in a forum such as this, I try to use discretion in choosing to point out errors. My assumption is that most posters are using their smart phones to interact, thus dealing with a less-than-ideal interface for accuracy of spelling and grammar, or they are uninterested in proofing their own writing. Some, however, may have a legitimate inability/disability; I believe that is worth taking into account.
