Psychology or Sociology?

Psychology is the study of an individual's mind and behaviour.
Sociology is the study of a society's behaviour based on certain influences.

At least from my little understanding.
Which degree would be more viable / in demand in the long run?
(For career prospects etc.)

Both are pseudo science and as such there isn't a real high demand for either.

They aren't pseudo science. They are social sciences. There is a demand for people such as school psychologists and mental health counselors.

That's true, I see a lot of people pursuing this field, which is puzzling.
I find fulfilment in supporting people's lives, whether altruistically or not, therefore I hope to pursue something that will aid in that.

I guess you can't have both passion / money. But I'm hoping for a decent salary. :/

Sorry to burst you bubble but even their own publications say that they are pseudo sciences. For example Psychology Today recently admitted that most of the 'studies' it had cited in the past could not be replicated and upon further study they realized that the 'studies' were extremely poorly done. A major study cited far and wide was based on a study of 5 individuals.

@hippyjoe1955: Oh, I will certainly agree that a lot of the studies have been horribly done. I have no idea why they aren't teaching them better.

They are teaching pseudo science because people want pseudo science not hard data.

@hippyjoe1955: So you're saying that Psychology lacks sufficient experiments to support their studies and claims? I know there's various theories out there that make sense on the surface level, but lacks depth.

In terms of psychology (if I choose to "pursue" it) I hope to apply my relevant knowledge to certain situations than to further my knowledge; breakthroughs etc.
