Why do some people insert an apostrophe into the word "its"?

All it does is turn it into a completely different word with a completely different meaning. What do they hope to gain from it?

Why do you assume people are seeking to gain something from a grammatical error?

@FrankietheFly So, for instance, you used “unusual” and “out-of-the-ordinary” when they mean exactly the same thing. The dashes you used were also unnecessary. So, what did you hope to gain from your grammatical errors?

@FrankietheFly I don’t care what you think. It doesn’t change the fact that you made errors.
