Why is college so expensive, like if you were in college in the 90's or before it was cheaper

@SweetMae So now that we have more money they want to rob college students or for the parents of college students to pay more? I mean if they want to encourage students to actually go to and stay in college cant they not be as expensive. In India college is free but you have to pay for public school, uniform,and textbooks.
