Okay, silly question but why doesn’t the US have ambassadors in Saudi Arabia and Turkey?

Actually, you were not wrong; Trump has not appointed Ambassadors for 32 countries yet - including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Syria, and South Korea.

You can check that out in the internet as I did after receiving your message that you were wrong.

I did misspeak, however, in stating that the President had not chosen ambassadors for roughly half of the countries in which we have traditionally had ambassadors; it is closer to one-third of those countries.

Considering that, since the armistice for the Korean War 60 some years ago, we have been on the hook essentially for South Korea's defense, one would think it might be a good idea to have an ambassador there.

And, considering that we import a large amount of oil from Saudi Arabia - and provide them with the bulk of their weapons for defense - it might be a good idea to have an ambassador there as well!

Just sayin'!
