Christopher P. Henzel - Ambassador to Saudi Arabia
Jeffrey M. Hovenier - Ambassador to Turkey.

What made you think the US doesn't?
SimplyTracie26-30, F
@Thespis I must have read some fake news or maybe some old news.
ozgirl51226-30, F
@SimplyTracie maybe you're thinking of us, down here ..
SimplyTracie26-30, F
@ozgirl512 We don鈥檛 have an Ambassador there?
ThespisM
@SimplyTracie I'm guessing @ozgirl512 is talking about Austraila.
ozgirl51226-30, F
@SimplyTracie yeah... Seeing as most people don't really believe we exist I guess it's normal... Probably the first fake country 馃槅
SimplyTracie26-30, F
@ozgirl512 You鈥檙e only an island surrounded by big water, ocean water. Y鈥檃ll don鈥檛 count. 馃槀馃槀馃槀
ThespisM
I thought that was the fictional birthplace of Crocodile Dundee?
SimplyTracie26-30, F
@Thespis I guess they call it something different o鈥檈r there.
ozgirl51226-30, F
@SimplyTracie oi!
We're ambidextrous!
We're an island and a continent!
So there 馃槤
ozgirl51226-30, F
@Thespis Dundee is fictional, we're real....I think 馃
UndeadPrivateer31-35, M
@SimplyTracie Charge d'Affaires, ad interrim, means it's a temporary role replacement performing necessary tasks until there's an official appointment made.
SimplyTracie26-30, F
@ozgirl512 You are real. 馃
ThespisM
@UndeadPrivateer Is correct. We have someone in both countries with the power of an ambassador, we don't have an actual ambassador because after two years Trump hasn't appointed anyone.
SimplyTracie26-30, F
@UndeadPrivateer So I guess we do have an Ambassador there, kind of.

I think Trump wants Jared Kushner to be the Ambassador but is waiting for the right moment to appoint him. Thoughts?
ThespisM
@SimplyTracie Turkey might not recognize a US Ambassador given the fact that Trump tried to ban immigrants from their country. Ironic since the 9/11 terrorist were Saudi Arabian nationals.
UndeadPrivateer31-35, M
@SimplyTracie Kind of, yeah. Not really though. Interrim appointments generally only do bare minimum, just make sure paperwork is getting filed properly pretty much. Jared Kushner would be a fucking train wreck as ambassador, but he'd probably make money doing it so I don't doubt Trump wants that. He's always been a fan of easy money, even if it costs human lives to get it.

@Thespis

Well, actually, only 9 out of 10 9/11 attackers were Saudi nationals, if you want to get technical.

And, Saudis in the United States were allowed to fly out right after 9/11, when All (?) flights were cancelled.

Interesting, the citizens of one of your alleged allies plan and execute a major attack within the largest city - and economic center - of your country, after which attack, citizens of that same country are permitted to fly out while citizens of your own country can not fly!

I am not - in any way - suggesting that President Bush had any prior knowledge of the attack. I do think that some US officials - very possibly without Bush's knowledge- attempted to cover up the involvement of Saudi nationals so as not to risk losing Saudi Arabia as a source of oil.

Since 9/11, largely due to fracking - and I am also not arguing for or against fracking - the United States has become the largest exporter of oil in the world.

So, the same argument can not be made about our needing Saudi Arabia as a source of oil. We can simply keep our oil here rather than exporting it, and can tell the Saudis to cram their oil up their ass!

Quakertrucker
SimplyTracie26-30, F
@Quakertrucker So why do we export our oil?
UndeadPrivateer31-35, M
@Quakertrucker 15 of 19. Guess what Osama Bin Laden was as well?
Quakertrucker70-79, M
@Thespis

As others have pointed out, neither of the men you listed are actually ambassadors; they are simply fill-ins until ambassadors are appointed, and then confirmed.

@SimplyTracie

I can not answer that! I would assume that there must be a profit motive, but I don't know.

And, since Trump was only elected less than two years ago, it can't really be a party - or Democrat or Republican - issue.

The Democrats say that they are the party of the common citizen, while the Republicans are the party of big business; at the same time, the Republicans say they represent the common person.

However, both parties - or at least the figures pulling the strings in both parties - are beholden to big business. No party today represents the common citizen.

Money rules!

@UndeadPrivateer

I know about Bin Laden, but I wish that I did not.

Thank you for correcting my numbers. Still, a large disproportionate number of the 9/11 attackers were from Saudi Arabia.

UndeadPrivateer31-35, M
@Quakertrucker It's really quite disturbing, the corruption runs ridiculously deep with Saudi Arabia-US relations.
SimplyTracie26-30, F
@Quakertrucker
@Quakertrucker I don鈥檛 get it either.

And of course we have the Keystone pipeline that will bring in more unnecessary oil. Is that still a thing?
UndeadPrivateer31-35, M
@SimplyTracie I think the real answer there is that Saudi royalty understands how to bribe people. It doesn't matter that the oil is unnecessary for our nation if it enriches the people who are in charge.
