Are they toys or are they tools for learning? If they're toys, then fine — lose the privilege of using them until you can take care of them. Are they tools for learning? Then no. That's kind of like saying a kid can't have lunch today because he didn't finish lunch yesterday.

@DunningKruger Don't get me wrong. I love my school, my coworkers and my students. It's just not easy, ;) But my Admin has my back for those challenging kids, and I'm friends with a couple of coaches who have helped me out on occasion. (One of the coaches is a direct co-worker of mine, so...)

I do not think that taking away a learning tool is a good punishment. I'd rather find another way to instill in them the need to put things away correctly after use.
