√(2x+3) - √(x+1) = 1

I know the answers are that x= -1, and 3, but I don't know how tf you get 3 because I only get -1. Pls help lol 💀

I agree with Prisoner619: square both sides, simplify, rewrite in the normal quadratic form ax^2+bx+c=0 and solve accordingly.

@sometimeslonelytoo I do that, but I only get -1. I have no idea where the 3 comes in.

@luvisrage It should factorise to (x+1)(x-3)=0, right?

@sometimeslonelytoo I simplify it to 2x+3 = x+2 and then solve algebraically and get -1.

@luvisrage Looks like you did the squaring incorrectly. Try again, step by step. If you're not careful you lose one solution, which is exactly what's happened.
