Do guns buy freedom or take it away?

I see that many Americans are too fearful of their neighbours to leave their door unlocked. Britain and Canada do it right.

@vetguy1991 In war times I can see that. But in peace time I think a proliferation of guns makes for a suspicious bordering on neurotic population. I've met so many Americans visiting Canada who were so thankful to finally breathe the free air.
