how many people...

do you think are out there that are inquisitive, curious, and have deep understandings of really interesting topics, or maybe have really impressive practical skills, yet unfortunately in a school environment are treated as dumb or stupid because they dont excel in your "typical" school subjects?

like : "oh yes, my son/daughter was able to complete {insert challenging game here} at age 10, can name any animal just by the sound of their call/cry, and can recite a deeper knowledge of Greek mythology than any library, But they failed their maths exams last year, and couldnt sit still for even half an hour to write up a decent research paper, so we are putting them down a year."

People call me a helicopter mom because I want to homeschool my son part time. But I don't believe in my kid being groomed for a lifetime of boredom and conformity.

@StokedFox fair enough, school is a hard decision, i know a few mates that were home schooled, one was fine and went well, but unfortunately, one of them suffered from a severe lack of social skills, sadly, its the only thing school seems to do well is force kids to be social , ususally

@HeWhoLaughs that's why he's gonna do it part of the year. He's gotta learn how to survive in the world, I just want him to know there's more to know than what a school teaches you.

i always kinda wanted to learn that way, but i was worried if i didnt learn what was "normal to know" id fail in adult life...i mean i failed at school anyway but still lol, yeah well that might give him the best of both worlds
