Not that it means a lot today, imho, cause many Universities etc are just place where you learn to do a job like in the past you would have learned it at the blacksmith shop. Today I see way too many people with a high level of degree but with a very poor and shameful culture.
Like people who attended some kind of Universities...
I personally met many people like this, and I have them in my friend circle (I still love them, but they're just ignorant I can't help it LOL).
People representatives of a high professional status gained thanks to studies (???) but with a almost nonexistent cultural level. When I talk with them of some topics, sometimes I think about talking of the same with my grandparents which have only attended the primary school and they are way more educated... Lot more.

Maybe it's also about the fact my grandparents are really aware of what having a culture means, and they've read a lot, went to theatre, and explored a lot in life, while my friend (Yeah I'm talking about you "C") did't open a single book or newspaper since he attended his degree more than 10 years ago...

It's weird cause it makes me think about the actual level of our Universities... And I also know very educated people that studied in the same places, so, it's just weird. Maybe I should blame previous school levels, but how these people attended the Uni exams?

LOL sorry about this, I supposed to open just a poll, cuz after all I'm curious about Education, as well as I like to ask about other things I find interesting.
So, here we go. 📚

Interesting results of your poll.

@monte3 Yeah, also I'm kinda tempted to quote any answer asking something like "so, what's the field? what do you study?" but I'mmma be a stalker LOL
It's just a curious topic to me.

I wonder how much selection bias there is. People with a higher ed level being more likely to respond

@monte3 Idk, do you think so? Mmmmhhhh... Because of a small social stigma reason or something?
monte3 · 70-79, M
Yes essentially. I agree on the death of culture by the way. Can I ask where you are from?

@monte3 Italy! I've always seen a big gap between culture and ignorance here, but now we have a populist government since a couple of weeks, so ignorance is free to come out of the closet! it seems you can insult a Doctor if he tells you that you have some disease you don't like to have, we also have parents beating the teachers outside schools cause the son had a bad grade etc. Really, we have MINISTERS doing this kind of things now.
Oh, we also had a teacher who's just been fired (thanks to the new government) cause she was protesting against violence... We're going to have bad times.

But it wasn't related to my question LOL, I put politics everywhere recently sorry. XD

Ok, I was saying that there's very different shit even in the same 'supposed to be cultural' place. Like when I was at the University I met some good teachers and lecturers but I also felt frustrated meeting people very ignorant in what was supposed to be their field. I just dropped their lesson and went for another teacher, but it affected my Uni years and today I don't care anymore and I don't believe in the educational system.
I had friends more intelligent or just more smart or something than me who where able to
float on this stream facing and avoiding problems and some of my closest friends are now teaching at those same Universities and I'm kinda glad for their students...
