How has life shaped Earth – and how has Earth shaped life?

The oxygen-risk atmosphere would probably be the most obvious single example of the former. As for the latter, how hasn't it? I don't think there's one aspect of life around here you could come up with that was not dependent on "shaping" from Earth.
