Do you think it is innapropirate or ill-advised to contact a retired professor for help?

The dean of my major retired at the beginning of this semester. He was in charge of the club that pertains to my major and did not mention his retirement to us. I would like to reach out to him as he is very knowledgeable. I'm not sure if reaching out would be appreciated since he did not mention his retirement. I feel like that "means" he doesn't want to be bothered with students...?

I'd say if you're asking for info or advice, it should be fine. esp if you'd developed a rapport with the prof. if you're wanting someone to pull strings or use influence, then it wouldn't be.

@SW-User I guess what I need help with is paid internship for next semester. It is a graduation requirement and I am not going to wait until January to try and set something up. I visited his office many times to talk about my work, papers, essays, the club etc...Did things on weekends with the club etc..
