As in, you forgot about a sandwich in your bag or cabinet, and after a while you rediscover it.

A cantaloupe rolled out from my grocery bag and was in the trunk of my car for a couple weeks, kept smelling it and then discovered it in the trunk, fortunately not rotten, it was cool weather.
