Why do we refrain from telling children stuff we would call adult?

Do they remain children because we keep them there? This has nothing to do with taking there childhood away. Is this a power thing or is it only information we find hard to accept ourselves? Do you wish you were taught these things early? Would the world be a better place if we were all educated on the raw truth rather than having it prettified?

@sogdianrock idk my experience was very raw from a very young age. Yes my experience was traumatic but more so because I didn't have the support and understanding from adults to deal with it but my God I grew up fast. I wouldn't say this is ideal in the sense that it still has an adverse effect on me. I didn't really have a childhood but it was more because I wasn't supported to deal with something like. But with support things would have been very different. Nonetheless I still feel more fortunate than most because I was presented with the raw truth at a young age which even today many adults will not acknowledge.

Sorry that you had a tough childhood or early years.
Alma Deutscher naive shows how huge human potential is even in childhood.
Imho there is plenty to learn as a child without exposure to adult material. It is not a matter of lying just selecting material which will not damage a growing mind. If a child asks explain in appropriate language and at an appropriate depth.

@sogdianrock you know what I mean though right? Like you say you can still educate them without damaging them merely by doing it with care but not avoiding telling them the truth, this can be damaging in itself don't you think?

I do believe though that we are all at different stages regardless of age. But I put that on reincarnation lol

No I do not believe so. Take war as an example. You could talk truthfully with a child about it in general sense without detail.

Vital to protect a child which cannot by definition avoid vulnerability. Of course in War as an example a parent cannot protect a child or themselves.
