Most people's intuition probably wouldn't be able to make sense of how a metal ship can float, or how a plane can fly if they didn't already know it was possible.

@Xuan12 but that's the point it does already know
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@JovialPlutonian In our case, because we see them in our modern world. Imagine before the creation of such devices. Imagine being in the bronze age and trying to explain to people that metal, one of the heaviest substances they know of, can be made to float, and even to fly.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@Xuan12 so where did this information come from to instigate these ideas?
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@JovialPlutonian Information? Observation and rigorous testing and experimentation. The earliest recorded attempts to fly go back as far as the first century. Mostly it's people jumping off high places with mock ups of bird wings, and mostly they were seriously injured or killed. Did their intuition suffice? It took until the 20th century before a true powered flight would take place. It was 2,000 years or more from the first attempts before humans had enough understanding of aerodynamics to accomplish this.

@Xuan12 yes but it all stemmed from an idea outside of their conscious awareness. If they were listening to their intuition maybe they would of checked if they could fly first before jumping off a cliff
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@JovialPlutonian So they should have tested/experimented to establish certain facts, indeed.

@Xuan12 intuition just just you a glimpse of the direction to go that will serve you, it's up to us to follow it if we wish, many do not
