It's been banned in Britain for many years but getting the slipper or (worse) the cane was a part of school when I was there. Wondered just how many people got it or still get it at school?

[image deleted]In the era I went to school almost everyone got it at least once. The slipper was in everyday use and a visit to the Headmistress meant six strokes of the cane. I experienced the cane eleven times but I was not unusual.
@SW-User Everyone I knew at school got the cane at least once, and I think we all got the slipper at least once every week.
In the first and second years of secondary school my class kept a "slipper chart" to record slipperings - number of incidents and total whacks. I think my record for a week was 8 incidents comprising 38 whacks but I forget the breakdown now. I also managed to get the first of the week a few times.
My maths. class in sixth form re-introduced it. CP was relatively rare in 6th form but the maths teacher used it more than most. My record there was 3 incidents in a week comprising 18 whacks and I managed first of week too.

@Sharon Never did that at my school but I did have dubious honour of first of the first years to get caned.
@SW-User I was the only one in my class at primary school to get the cane, possibly the only one in my year. In secondary school I was the first in my class to get the cane but not the first in my year. I was among the first group in my class the get the slipper in secondary school.
