Can someone explain this to me?

7 × 9 > 50 + ....

The answer is 9. How does that equal 9 and how do you work it out?

If the ... is a value like X, and X is a real number, then X has an infinite number of solutions, since it is an inequality.

7 * 9 > 50 + X

50 + X < 63

X < 13

@JoyfulSilence I did a quiz and it said 9, that's why I was confused. I thought it was 13. Thanks

I hope I was not allowing you to cheat! Or was this after the quiz?

@JoyfulSilence No you weren't. This was a practice quiz. The real one is next month.

Did my solution make sense. Did you see the steps? When in doubt, write out all the steps and do the fewest at a time to limit mistakes.

@JoyfulSilence Yes it does. I worked out the answer to be 13, because 7 times 9 is 63 and 50 plus 13 equals 63. The answer came out as 9, that's why I was confused, but I think it was a mistake.
