How do people willingly not want to go to college?

I mean it's expensive and that definitely is enough reason not to go, but if you have the ability to go why not? I just don't understand and I hate that excuse of "my dad didn't go and he turned out alright", yeah that was 20 years ago and now the economy changed and even if you have an undergrad college degree you might not get hired so you should aim higher in your education. Idk. Maybe i'm lacking insight in this currently.

My son is a manager of a major store in retail and his biggest work force are people that have graduated from college and universities that can't get employment and it makes them sick that they put in all that hard graph and it hasn't given them a step up the ladder...

As I've already mentioned before, yes it is hard getting a job when you're a college graduate, but it is even 10 times harder if you're only a high-school graduate.

@Primnproper I agree. I have 2 college degrees and still the only jobs available are retail - and there's no going anywhere in that kind of job.

@shuhak my son started at the bottom at 16 straight out of school, he became the companies youngest ever manager at 19 after training and now at 26 manages his own store..never say never..

@offingg just because some may not go to college or university and don't strive to do so does not mean they can't be successful in life...some want to be out earning money and living...further education is not for everyone..

@shuhak exactly sometimes on the job training can get you up there even quicker, it depends how conscientious you are..
