I hate when older people say "Back In my Day (blahblahblah)

i find that every older person that says that is jealous of younger people because of how mundane and unsatisfactory their lives have become and they start living in the past because thats the only social identity they perceive to have any inherent worth in anymore.

I guess it depends on what they are saying about back in their day. I do that sometimes but not in a demeaning way. I say it to tell how it was back then. Now if someone said well back in my day we did it this way and it was better, that might be offensive but I don't think they really mean it to be.

Your profile says you are Holly Hunter's wife. Is this the Holly Hunter that was born in 1958? I hope you don't find conversations with her about the old days to be demeaning...
