I Watch Documentaries

Movies like Hotel Rwanda (Cheadle was amazing!) really hit home with a broader audience. Let's face it, many Americans won't watch anything that even has subtitles. :P Clinton will admit that Rwanda was the biggest regret of his administration. So many people killed so quickly. The world wasn't prepared. However, 22 years on, are we? The Syrian genocide is a much more complicated scenario, but it's still genocide. We still can't stop the killing. We still can't stop the evil in men's hearts.

In Rwanda's case (and many genocides throughout history), ignorance breeds fear. If you have little education, your mind isn't developed well enough to know that the s--t coming out of the government-controlled media is exactly that, s--t. So when they tell you that your neighbor is just another animal that needs to be slaughtered, you do it. And don't get me stah-ted on when religion is mixed in... I won't shut up!

Correct Diablo. I do remember. I remember the UN knowing what was going on and didn't step in to help because the US is neutral. I remember Oprah talking about it and questioning Clinton at that time. I couldn't imagine the fear, and the pain that the Rwandans went through. It is so sad that entire families were wiped out.

I respect all regions as well, and feel the same about their use and abuse. I'm not the biggest Karl Marx fan (he was the least funny of the Marx Brothers) but he had a point in his famous line, "Religion is the opium of the people". Pisstivity! I will have to remember that one.

Keep talking. I try and respect all religions but, when people use religion to starts wars, or rape, murder and turn a town or village into a slaughter house, that really pisses me off to the highest point of pisstivity.

I love docs as well. That's a powerful one that I remember still watching years ago. Haunting would be an understatement. Do you remember much about those horrible 100 days in 1994?

Diablo I saw Casablanca more than 15 years ago. It is on my list for replay this Mother's Day weekend. I do remember Casablanca being somewhat of a love story.

Is whatapp better than kik? If so, I will download it then we can go one-on-one... but tomorrow, as it's getting late here - even for an energetic diablo! ;)

So many atrocities have taken place. I just don't see how a person can come to terms with murdering your neighbor.

Casablanca is one of my all-time favorites. Although it was made during WWII, it's a timeless story.
