@plaguewatcher Sorry...I suppose I have not reached that stage or maturity here nuance lives. From my father's experience and from my reading of history it is the nuanced ones who usually are murdered first,

I believe in complete free speech. I also believe people have every right to respond to it in any way they choose short of harassing or violence. PC is the tool of all totalitarian movements.

And my full-disclosure as if it is any news, I am a Right-wing populist as that is understood in Europe.

@Abrienda well there is no legal prohibition in the states, from saying things that are offensive. PC may be itself offensive, but it is certainly not in the law. Even ethnic slurs like kike, bohunk, Paddy, or pineapple, tho very rude are not illegal

names of places and people? I tend to side with how a person says their own name, or that of their nation, the germans call it Deutschland. Im okay with that.

technically Constantinople stopped existing in 1453.. a fascinating time!

so pc is to me, a speech choice.

I do not think the motivation for a crime should bear on that crime's punishment, all offenses should be equal. and punishment should be choosen by the judge, not by statute

So please next time you are in a social gathering (better with some of your superiors or HR people there) and say that really transgenderism is a fraud or some cultures are inferior to others or that each race has unique characteristics then see what happens...not everything needs to be Illegal to be prohibited. Nor can "hate speech" be considered a crime because speech itself is not a crime.

Regarding Constantinople, there is a Czech joke which may actually be a Russian one my father told me who also used the word Constantinople from the Communist times.

@Abrienda i have never said PC is good, or has no effect, i AM saying it is not a llegal statute.
I am also say8ing many HAVE their jobs due to factors other than suitability. we have some serious dynastic families here. and "Who YOu KNow" is ever a most important factor.
in some states the opposite of PC promotion occurs as well, when the locality chooses a person more on position than effectiveness,
Mr O'Rouke, has not year won anything important, but TOO MANY times we have winners that are considered more attractive. I know a so called "conservative" ( i dispute his lable) who wanted to vote for the "hot Chick"

so rather than by example, what do you suggest to stop PC from being a factor for oh some close to half of the populace?

I am serious, not adversarial, we cannot choose well without many things to choose from.
