I Hate Political Correctness

I wonder how fast Congress would agree if they had to work without pay during government shutdowns

Time for term limits. Get rid of the creeps and their corruption.

@hippyjoe1955 lol your Canadian
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
But have a point
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Mountainlady16 Yes and we have a different system but too often the same problem. People get re elected too many times.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@hippyjoe1955 true but isn't our Congress and your parliament about the same
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Not really there is a huge difference. In Canada all the power rests in the Prime Minister's office. He is an elected dictator for up to 5 years.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@hippyjoe1955 i thought the queen appointed Prime Minister
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Mountainlady16 No the people vote for their MP who represents a political party. The party with the most elected members forms the government. The leader of that party also an elected MP (usually) becomes the PM by appointment of the queen. She can't say no.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@hippyjoe1955 awww well technically she can but that be political suicide cause she's supposed to be politically neutral. Kinda like our speaker of the house in how chosen though only by tradition is he head of the major party in Congress. Technically the house can choose anyone to be speaker doesn't even have to be a member of the Congress. Though he or she has always been
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Mountainlady16 Not any longer the Queen has to go with the leader of the biggest party. She has no power to do otherwise.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@hippyjoe1955 i watch to much about the queen I guess for some reason idea of women in leadership least real ladies like her fascinate me. Though we don't have many here in the US. Certain not in Congress. Maybe our lovely FLOTUS
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@hippyjoe1955 ok different than the UK than
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Mountainlady16 Yes the queen is our head of state but she has no real power. She must sign whatever is put in front of her by parliament.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@hippyjoe1955 unlike our president who has real power but than he's head of government and the head of state. Have u watched the crown really fascinating show though I don't know if it's available on Canada's Netflix.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Mountainlady16 I don't have netflix so no I have never watched it. I lost all respect for the monarchy back when our present prime minister's dad was PM and decided to re write our constitution and include in it a 'charter of rights'. The charter protects the government and not the people and the constitution was written by 11 old white guys who didn't like each other. The ill designed piece of trash was designed to be never amended and the only honest guy amongst the 11 wouldn't sign it. The queen was dragged over here to sign the toilet paper and she did and Canada has become less and less free every year since.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@hippyjoe1955 wow didn't know that
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Mountainlady16 Yeah it was not a great day for Canada.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
I thought you said she has no choice
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Mountainlady16 Exactly. The one time Canada needed rescuing from its stupid corrupt leadership and the monarch could do nothing about it. At least the POTUS can veto something that he doesn't agree with.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@hippyjoe1955 though there's downsides to that look at Obama
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Mountainlady16 Yes there are always drawbacks but better no law be enacted than one bad law.
