Referring to girls and women as "females" rather than well, "girls or women”

Seems a bit dehumanizing. Girls and women are human beings, but not all "females" are.

Just a thought.

I think it started when men and boys started being referred to as males. It is dehumanizing but sauce for the goose etc.
@Sharon When did that happen ? And by whom ? I don’t think you understand what I’m talking about.

@bijouxbroussard I'm not sure when it started but it was a few (several?) years ago that I saw men and boys being referred to simply as males. It was sometime later that I started seeing women and girls being referred to simply as females.
@Sharon Are you in the U.S. ?
Sharon · F
@bijouxbroussard No, I'm in the UK.
@Sharon Okay, because that hasn’t really been a thing here. Like I said, you don’t understand what I’m talking about. 😳

@bijouxbroussard What are you referring to then? Is it that women and girls there are referred to as females but men and boys aren't referred to as males? I wonder if one of our countries partially copied the practice from the other.
