Referring to girls and women as "females" rather than well, "girls or women”

Seems a bit dehumanizing. Girls and women are human beings, but not all "females" are.

Just a thought.

Well. I tend to use "females" in writing because people find "girls" and "women" offensive on occasion. "girls" being offensive as it is diminutive, one should use "young women" instead. And "women" being offensive as it contains "men" or is an aggregate of cis and trans women. So "females" is more specific to cis-women. I guess I'm dehumanizing to women by using "females" now. I guess it's just a question of who I am pissing off..
@CopperCicada Curious as to why "women" would be offensive due to the inclusion of "men" while "female", which includes "male" isn't.
@CopperCicada It’s in the category of "pet peeve" because it’s just that. Not anything I’d end a friendship over or take as a mortal insult. But men are men, guys, possibly dudes (and I’ve heard men complain about that). And in my culture "boy" is pretty much off the table for anyone over age 12.
It seems a lot simpler.
@Mamapolo2016 I don’t know. But it is why “women” is spelled “womyn” or “wymyn” by some.
@bijouxbroussard I guess we all have our pet peeves. Call me a man or a guy, that’s fine. Dude, bro, bruh, bud gets me twitchy.
@CopperCicada See ? We all have them. "Gal", unless it’s someone I know very well, does that for me. 😄
